The dreaded therapist transfer has happened.  Now I wait and see who I'm paired with.  Stay tuned...

Episode 13 – Selected Topics

We’re back!  Personal crises have been survived, family issues have been dealt with, and technical difficulties have been resolved.  It’s about time.

Becky is solo and guest-free for this edition of the podcast.  I talk about a few topics that have been on my mind lately, including the question “why are you so jumpy?” and the phenomenon of intrusive thoughts.

On intrusive thoughts:

Episode Twelve – Slye and Elle, Redux (Part 2)

In this week’s episode:

I got my 23 and Me results back! It’s mostly things I knew, but there were a few surprises.

My Husband, Slye, is with me in the studio today.  He shares some tips about staying mentally healthy during the holidays, and we discuss his family’s history with mental illness.

In news, we discuss a recent article about the causes (plural) of bipolar disorder.  http://www.futurity.org/bipolar-disorder-causes-1632792/

Here’s another article on the same study.  It’s actually a bit more readable than the first.  https://www.bustle.com/p/what-causes-bipolar-disorder-scientists-think-theyve-found-7-potential-sources-of-the-illness-7618175

This week’s interview is the continuation of last week’s discussion with Elle.

I’ve also had some requests for a way to donate to the podcast, so I’ve added a PayPal Donate button to the site.  Thank you all for your support!

Episode 11 – Elle, Redux

In this week’s episode:

I’ve been a bit under the weather this week, having taken 2.5 days off of work.  Luckily, I feel a bit better just in time to get together an episode!

In news and reviews this week, I came across an article that just made my blood boil.  It’s a Guardian article that talks about a lawsuit filed by a US former prisoner.  He alleges that severe neglect and abuse, in addition to not being provided adequate mental care, caused him to suffer sever delusions culminating in his gouging out his own eyes. (sorry).

In this week’s interview, I welcome back friend of the show, Elle.  She wanted to share some of her struggles with benzodiazapines and the stigma she has faced.
